Solid Win Against Bischofswerdaer

After a strong start in the second half of the season with two wins, FC Viktoria Berlin completed their mandatory task against Bischofswerda. The Sky Blues (Himmelblauen) secured a 3-1 victory against the team in tenth place.

In the first match earlier in the season, there were eight goals at home in Lichterfelde. However, in Bischofswerda, it took a while for Viktoria to create their first real chance. In the 21st minute, it was defender Carol Cazares who almost scored.

Two Goals Just Before Half-Time

At least things were now starting to pick up. Natalia Stulin had two missed chances (29’, 35’), and Marlies Sänger headed wide (31’) before the ball finally found the back of the net. The player who created the first shot was also the one to score the first goal: Cazares, with her third goal of the season, just before half-time (38’). And what a goal it was – an absolute stunner from 25 metres out, struck perfectly.

But the 1-0 wasn’t the end of the first half. Aylin Yaren scored from a direct free kick, right before the break (45+1’).

First Goal Conceded In The Second Half Of The Season

In the second half, there was another goal—Yaren completed her brace (62’), following an assist from Cazares, but Bischofswerda also began to create some chances, mainly through Nadine Rinke (58’). It was Rinke who eventually scored for Bischofswerda, ten minutes after Yaren’s second (72’). Interestingly, this was Viktoria’s first goal conceded in the second half of the season, in their third game.

Viktoria still managed several more shots on goal, through Kim Urbanek (74’), Corinna Statz (75’, 78’), and Danya Barsalona (84’, 89’), but the score remained 3-1.

Preview: The Capital Derby

Three wins in three matches, everything is going according to plan. Now that the repeatedly postponed game against 1. FFV Erfurt has been resolved by default, we can once again look at the table without too much math. Viktoria is in second place, five points ahead of Jena II, and three points and one game behind Union (who are playing their derby against Hertha at the Stadium An der Alten Försterei, meaning that match will take place at the end of April).

For us, the showdown is already next week, on Sunday, March 24th, at Stadion Lichterfelde. First versus second, and Viktoria has the chance to catch up. So, come in numbers!
